What Does One Do?

Last semester I went to Utah State University. I had an awesome time, including pie fights, dance parties every weekend, the HOWL, and a bunch of other random stuff. This semester, I don't have much money to go back to college.

This leads me to wonder how people pay for college. Seriously, I worked full time all summer for 10 dollars an hour, and I can't make it. Lots of my other friends didn't work at all, or just worked part time, bought a laptop, or some other expensive piece of machinery, and are back up there. I just don't get it. Does everyone get super scholarships or go way in debt to go to college? If you are a college student, and have any tips on money for tuition and stuff like that, please comment and tell me your thoughts!

Awesome Albums

I really like music, but i get bored of it easily. I have to constantly be searching for new bands, new albums. I'm going to list the best albums I can think of right now, and you should all go buy them.

In no particular order listed by band first, and then album name:

Cloud Cult - Advice From the Happy Hippopotamus
Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Like Bad News
Serj Tankian - Elect the Dead
Toadies - Rubberneck
Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank
Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown (Surprisingly Good!)
Gorillaz - Demon Days
Nevermind - Nirvana (Obviously)

I'll add more some day, but these are just some awesome albums. Also, remember to listen to them from start to finish like they were intended at least for the first time.

popular music SUCKS

Last time I went to a dance (like a week ago) I listened to the music. For the most part, I had no idea what most the popular songs were. As new songs would come on, a bunch of people would scream and be all excited, and I asked who sang each song. One time, the girl I was with said "Hannah Montana". Now I'm not bashing Hannah Montana or Miley Cyress or whatever she goes by these days, but really? Everyone is freaking out over her at a college dance? I'd think that some people had better taste then that.

Now here is a list of songs that I've been listening to recently. Some of them might be popular, I really have no Idea. Type some of these titles and songs into YouTube or mySpace and maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you hear.

Oh yeah, and be warned. Some songs on this list may or may not contain explicit lyrics. Just in case you would be freaked out by that. I don't usually notice lyrics at all until I really know a song.

The list will have the title of the song, followed by the band name

1. Super - Say Hi to Your Mom
2 .Girlfriends - Singlefile
3. Drain You - Nirvana
4. Lump - Presidents of the United States of America
5. Let it Die - Foo Fighters
6. Tonight Tonight - Smashing Pumpkins
7. Sink to the Bottom - Fountains of Wayne
8. Title and Registration - Death Cab for Cutie
9. Lake of Fire - Nirvana (Cover. It was originally done by the Meat Puppets, and that version is also very good)
10. Times like these ACOUSTIC - Foo Fighters (the acoustic version is superb)
11. Soco Amaretto Lime - Brand New
12. Everybody Here is a Cloud - Cloud Cult (I highly recommend almost everything by this band)
13. Something in the Way - Nirvana ("Nevermind" album version. Have you figured out my favorite band yet?)
14. Play Crack the Sky- Brand New
15. Roulette- System of a Down (Even if you hate System you might like this one)
16. Karma Police - Radiohead
17. Don't Look Back In Anger ACOUSTIC - Oasis (The original is good, but this song just sounds better acoustic)
18. Play Crack the Sky - Brand New
19. Disarm - Smashing Pumpkins
20. Intergalactic - Beastie Boys (Yeah this song rocks)

Well there you go, 20 random songs that I like. I have no Idea how popular these bands are, but if you want new music give some of that a listen. If you want more, I have dozens more. And probably a lot of bands you haven't even heard of.

Songs I Want Played!!!!

I want to go (and hopefully am going) to two concerts this semester. I don't have much money but I still wrote a set list that I want each band to play. If they play more songs then this its okay, but I want these songs played!

The first concert coming up is the Brand New Concert and they need to play:

1. Okay, I believe you, but my tommy gun doesn't
2. Mix Tape
3.The boy who blocked his own shot
4. Failure by Design
5. Gasoline
6. Limousine
7. Jesus
8. Milestone
9. Daisy
10. Play Crack the Sky
11. Handcuffs
12. The Archers Bows Have Broken
13. Soco Amaretto Lime
14. Seventy Times Seven
15. You Won't Know

Okay, so they won't play all of these, and there is a bunch more I want them to play, but it would be cool

The other concert is obviously the Muse concert and I want them to play

1. New Born
2. Butterflies and Hurricanes
3. Hysteria
3. Stockholm Syndrome
4. Citizen Erased
5. Apocalypse Please
6. Time is Running Out
7. Sing for Absolution
8. Ruled by Secrecy
9. Unintended
10. Resistance
11. Sing for Absolution
12. Supermassive Black Hole
13. Hoodoo
14. Take a Bow
15. Knights of Cydonia

Yeah Muse will just play all those popular songs that stupid Twilight fans like, but I can wish I guess. But whatever. As long as I get to see Muse I'm okay.

I'm

Well, the first decade of the 2010 is over, and I can't help but think of how glad I am that I was born in the 90's. Why? Because the entertainment of today SUCKS! Sometimes I watch TV with my little brothers and I just want to cry....that's how bad they are.

1. 90's had the best cartoons EVER! Pinky and the brain, Doug, and Animaniacs were just some of the best cartoons ever. Also you can't forget that King of the Hill started in 1997 and that is still probably my favorite TV show.

2. 90's had some pretty cool movies as well. In particular, good Disney movies. I know Disney still releases good movies like Up and all that 3D animation stuff, but in the nineties they released Beauty and the beast, Aladdin, Lion King, a goofy movie, Toy Story 1 & 2, Mulan, and Tarzan. Oh and we can't forget the Nightmare Before Christmas! That one was awesome.

3. Okay, so the ps3 is cool. The X BOX 360 is delectably better, and the Wii......well the Wii is just sorta gay. But none of these systems make me as happy as the Sega Genesis. I know the Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 and PlayStation were out at that time as well, but the Genesis is always my favorite. It had Sonic, and Mortal Combat, and of course the game made after Toy Story was the best game ever made.

4. Do I even need to talk about music? With Nirvana, Weezer, Smashing Pumkins, and Blink 182 there was no way any decade could be better than the 90's.

5. Okay, the last section is sort of different from the rest. When I was growing up in elementary school, I would go over to my friends house and we would play basketball, Frisbee, soccer, and whatever else we wanted. We would also make up stories and stuff with our minds. My little brother had a friend over here today, and they played video games the WHOLE time. For like 8 hours. I like to play video games, and I have even played them for that long before, but I still feel bad that this generation of kids is going to have to remember playing video games all day for the rest of their lives.

Christmas seems......different

This Christmas was a really fun one for me. I got college tuition, which is what I needed, and even a few more things. But Christmas still seems a little different from when I was a kid, and I don't know if I like it or not.

Yesterday morning, I woke up and went downstairs to see....a bunch of little DVD shaped boxes. Now this isn't a bad thing, its just a lot different then what I remember. When I was a kid we would get remote control cars, pirate ship play sets, sports equipment and Legos stuff. But it seems like this year, all my little brothers asked for was ps3 games and DVD's. I don't really know how santa's elves make DVD's and ps3 games, so it sorta takes the magic of christmas away from me. Especially when the toys they are getting are really violent video games and movies my mom wouln't let me watch or play until I was like 15.

I'm not saying I don't like movies and video games, because I really like both of them. I'm just saying that today's kids are growing up with blue ray, ps3s and wii's instead of Lego's and matchbox cars like me.

Anyway, there was my rant. Merry Christmas!

Christmas Break VS College Life

I got back from Logan recently for Christmas break. I was excited to get back, but now I miss Logan! And College! Here are some reasons I like them:

1. Logan is a small town, and easy to navigate. Me and my roommate wanted to get Subway, and not knowing where one was we ended up walking pretty much from one end of Logan to the other to find one. But one end of Logan isn't very far, and it only took us like half an hour round trip. If I was going to do the same thing here, it would take a looooot longer. After we found the sandwiches, we discovered that there was another Subway right across the street from the bus stop. Guess I should have checked online...

2. The Bluezone. BEST INTERNET EVER! I wish I had some of that at my house.....

3. Everyone is so nice on campus. I go to my classes and can just talk to random people and (almost always) they are nice and I can have a good conversation with them. Maybe it's just the hustle and bustle of the holidays, but people seem to be a lot more hurried and rude down here.

4. I really like going to classes. Make fun of me if you want, but I think its fun. Well at least all of my classes are fun but math.

5. My roommates. They are pretty awesome. They like to make fun of me though. But even so, they are probably some of the coolest people ever.

6. XBOX live. I need my ODST fix right about now....

7. Living away from my parents. This is probably the biggest and best part of college and being home I can't do anything anymore. Plus, at college I can eat hot pockets and ramen for every meal, and no one thinks any worse of me.

This list is pretty long so I'm not going to write any more about it, unless of course you want me to. Actually not even then. BWA HA HA HA HA HA!
